Additionally, when protesters decide to block the way of others or prevent them from where they want to go, as in the US Palestinian Protests where Jewish students were encircled and harassed and spoken at with hate, there will be legislation to stop this as well. BREAKING UPDATE: Hundreds of arrests as riot police clear UCLA's Gaza camp, at least one officer injured (PM, May 2, 2024) Police moved in on the UCLA campus early Thursday morning and made over 200 arrests to clear the Gaza camp protest. This occurred after authorities warned that the encampment was "unlawful" and that everyone must leave the area. During Thursday morning, police made over 200 arrests after a standoff with the rioters, according to NBC News. At least one officer was injured. On Tuesday night, campus security stood down and law enforcement was nowhere to be found as pro-Israel and pro-Palestinian activists skirmished following a Jewish girl being beaten unconscious earlier in the day by the anti-Israel activists in the encampment. Both sides allegedly fought each other with fists, placards, and anything else available. Fireworks were even launched at activists during the riot. The university’s president Michael Drake added that following the violence, “There were a reported 15 injuries, including one hospitalization. John Carpay: Protests Must Be Handled Under the Rule of Law, Not Politics (Epoch Times, 4/30/2024) In the so-called Gaza “encampment movement,” as the media has dubbed it, pro-Palestine protesters have set up fencing and tents on campus, contrary to university rules and policies, at the University of Ottawa, at McGill University in Montreal, and at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. One of the protesters at UBC was quoted as saying: “As Canadians, we have the right to demonstrate peacefully as long as there is no violence. We have the right to protest this. … We believe we have the freedom of speech, which is not taken away from us.” Freedom of speech does not include a freedom to disregard university rules and policies … Since 2020, politicians, police, and Crown prosecutors have repudiated the rule of law, one of Canada’s most crucial constitutional principles. In March 2020, protesters blockaded railroads in the name of stopping oil and gas development, claiming to defend the environment and indigenous rights. Prime Minister Trudeau offered to meet with them, and police did little to address the protesters’ clearly criminal behaviour. Less than two years later, truckers along with thousands of other Canadians assembled peacefully in Ottawa to protest vaccine mandates. The prime minister refused to meet with them and left town. A few weeks later he illegally declared a “national emergency” and abused the Emergencies Act to use violence against peaceful protesters. In July 2021, vandals in Winnipeg pulled down a large statue of Queen Victoria on the Legislature grounds, in broad daylight while police watched. Damaging property (apart from your own property) is clearly criminal, yet no arrests were made. In spite of abundant video footage that would make it easy to identify and track down the criminals, Manitoba Crown prosecutors later announced that no criminal charges would be brought against the vandals. The specific reason for not enforcing the Criminal Code was not given. Crown prosecutors condone the clear and obvious criminal conduct of those who destroy public property (e.g. the statue of Queen Victoria at the Manitoba legislature), while prosecuting Tamara Lich and Chris Barber for having peacefully exercised their charter freedoms of expression, association, and assembly. Criminal Code section 423 prohibits intimidation, which includes blockading or obstructing a highway if done “for the purpose of compelling another person to abstain from doing anything that he or she has a lawful right to do, or to do anything that he or she has a lawful right to abstain from doing.” Criminal Code section 430 prohibits “mischief,” defined as wilfully destroying or damaging property; wilfully rendering property dangerous, useless, inoperative or ineffective; or wilfully obstructing, interrupting or interfering with the lawful use, enjoyment, or operation of property. The maximum penalty is imprisonment for life. The selective prosecution of offences committed (or not committed) by protesters, based on the protesters’ political views rather than on their behaviour, is a serious affront to the rule of law. Bottom line is this: We need consistency in enforcing the Rule of Law….not the Rule of Law being enforced only when the federal government supports it as with Trudeau! Indeed, often there needs to be a “level of organization” to run these protests as materials and tactics need to be planned. We have seen in Canada professional protesters who move from one protest to another. The Freedom Party of Canada will track protesters and professional protesters will be dealt with severely under the law. They will be cut off of all government assistance for a period of 10 years minimum. They may even be recruited into the Canadian Forces with a 10 year contract and an ankle bracelet to make sure they are not part of these protests again. The incident began when the agitators illegally entered Millar Library for the second time, defying earlier attempts by authorities to secure the premises after an initial clearance at 9:30 a.m. local time on Thursday. Pro-Hamas Protesters Defile Memorial, Torch U.S Flag, NYPD Makes Arrests (Red Voice Media, May 7, 2024) In a display of outrage and hostility towards Israel, protesters draped a Palestinian flag over a memorial in New York City while also burning an American flag. This incident left many onlookers shocked and concerned about the growing animosity towards the United States and its ally, Israel. The incident occurred at a memorial site in New York City, as reported by Breitbart. Protesters targeted the memorial and defaced it with a Palestinian flag, which they draped over the structure, as an act of solidarity with the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. Concurrently, an American flag was set ablaze, further fanning the flames of discord and anti-American sentiment. The protesters’ actions highlight their support for Hamas, the Palestinian group labeled as a terrorist organization by many nations, including the United States. Pro-Palestinian Protesters Embrace Communist Terror Group Propaganda, Leaders: Report (Epoch Times, 5/9/2024) The terror group Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine is well-represented in the ongoing campus protests, according to a new report by the Israeli watchdog group NGO Monitor. On May 8, the Jerusalem-based research institute published a report detailing the involvement of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) and a subsidiary organization, Samidoun, in the protests active at more than 80 campuses across the United States. The Popular Front was designated as a terrorist organization by the U.S. Department of State in 1997. According to the report, Khaled Barakat, a member of the PFLP and a founder of Samidoun, appeared at an event at Barnard College in New York on March 24 to teach “Resistance 101.” Barnard is officially part of Columbia University. On May 6, Columbia canceled its main commencement ceremony following weeks of pro-Palestinian protests. At his appearance, Mr. Barakat praised Hamas, Islamic Jihad, and the Popular Front. At the same event, Nerdeen Kiswani, founder of the protest group Within Our Lifetime–United for Palestine, spoke about Palestinians’ rights to every inch of Palestine, from the River Jordan to the Mediterranean Sea. Moreover, NGO Monitor cited examples of protesters carrying Popular Front posters, wearing Popular Front headbands, flying the group’s flag, and publicly reading Popular Front publications. In a statement, Gerald Steinberg, founder and president of NGO Monitor, said the “wide involvement” of a terror organization in the campus protests “highlights the fiction that this is a spontaneous protest movement.” “The links between Samidoun, SJP [Students for Justice in Palestine], and the other NGO organizers require an independent and detailed Congressional investigation, including disclosing all of the funding sources from both inside the U.S. and from foreign entities,” Mr. Steinberg said in a statement. “In addition, a review of the legality of Samidoun’s operations in the U.S. is overdue.” According to the National Counterterrorism Center, the Popular Front is a terrorist group known for its Marxist–Leninist ideology. It was founded in 1967 and has carried out deadly attacks as recently as 2019. The Popular Front views “the destruction of Israel as integral to the struggle to remove Western capitalism from the Middle East and ultimately establish a Communist Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital,” according to the center. The group is led by Ahmad Sa'adat, who was imprisoned in 2001 by the Palestinian Authority. In April 2024, the Popular Front published a statement on its website affirming its “steadfast support for the struggle of the students youth movements.” It specifically called out Students for Justice in Palestine and the Palestinian Youth Movement. “We highly appreciate the positions, movements, and struggles of our students in American universities and call for the escalation of their struggle,” the Popular Front statement reads. NGO Monitor calls Samidoun a subsidiary organization of the Popular Front. It also said Samidoun was designated as a terrorist group by Israel in 2021. Samidoun, which calls itself the Palestinian Prisoner Solidarity Network, praised the massacre of Jews by Hamas on Oct. 7, 2023. Its website currently features an image with the words “Long Live October 7th.” On May 1, Charlotte Kates, Samidoun’s international coordinator, was arrested and charged by the Vancouver Police Department for an April 26 speech that she gave calling for jihad. “The attack on Kates is an attack on the Palestinian people, part of a longstanding effort by Israel and its imperialist allies to criminalize and de-legitimize Palestinian people, their political organizations, and their allies,” the May 6 statement reads. On May 3, the @IsraelWarRoom account on X, formerly Twitter, gained access to a Google Drive account apparently owned by National Students for Justice in Palestine spokeswoman Carrie Zaremba. According to the social media account, that drive contained multiple documents published by the Popular Front. Also, on May 3, protesters occupying George Washington University’s campus read out loud sections of the Popular Front’s book “Strategy for the Liberation of Palestine,” according to NGO Monitor. Washington’s Metropolitan Police Department cleared a pro-Palestinian encampment from the university’s campus early on May 8. The crackdown occurred hours before Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser and the department’s chief were due to testify before the House Oversight Committee. City University of New York law professor Jeffrey Lax told The Epoch Times that while it may seem incongruous, it’s “unfortunately not surprising” to see coordination between Marxists and Islamists in orchestrating protests. “So even though the Marxist and Islamist have nothing in common—they share no values at all—the only thing they share is a common enemy, which is America and Western culture and democracy and capitalism,” he said. “It’s not a coincidence, these things they’re doing. They want to disrupt the American way of life. That is the whole goal.” Mr. Laz said he believes that a long, hot summer of street protests, public space occupations, and bridge and building seizures is looming as protests move off campuses. “Behind every student rally you see are Marxist professors leading it, guiding it; it’s not students. Don’t be fooled by the face of the rallies,” he said. “I see this up close and personal every day on our campuses. It’s Marxist faculty leading it. Most older Canadians aged 55 and up (66 percent) oppose them, while nearly half of younger Canadians aged 18 to 34 (45 percent) support them. There are currently encampments at no less than ten Canadian universities. More Canadians oppose than support the pro-Palestine encampments that have sprung up in universities across Canada, while one-third support them, according to a newly released survey. Harvard blocks 12 seniors from graduation, temporarily suspends others for roles in campus Gaza camp (PM, May 20, 2024) Harvard has reportedly blocked 12 seniors from graduating and dozens more students received notices to appear in front of the Harvard College Administrative Board in connection with the Gaza camp that lasted nearly three weeks in Harvard Yard. On Friday, Harvard suspended five students and put 20 more on academic probation, according to The Harvard Crimson. At least 60 students received notices to appear in front of the Harvard College Administrative Board and another 12 seniors will not be able to participate in the upcoming commencement exercises, all because of their roles in the Gaza encampment. Senior and Rhodes Scholar Suhaas Bhat reportedly told students at the start of the Class of 2024 Senior Talent Show “Harvard is not allowing me to graduate this semester for my participation in the encampment.” Harvard reinstated 22 students last week who were previously placed on involuntary leave as part of the board’s investigation into the antisemitic encampment. Harvard spokesman Jonathan Palumbo told the outlet that the university is “committed to applying all policies in a content-neutral manner and per existing regulations as outlined in college and university guidelines.” The Freedom Party of Canada supports peaceful protests that are not breaking the law. Pro-Palestinian Protester Avoided Jail Time After Punching Female Capitol Police (Epoch Times, 5/20/2024) A pro-Palestinian activist who allegedly attacked a female police officer last November in the Capitol Hill neighborhood has been sentenced to community service, court record suggests. The Nov. 15 protest, described by the Capitol Police as “not peaceful,” drew approximately 200 people to the Democratic National Committee headquarters. Protesters blocked entrances and exits of the building, in an attempt to force Democrats inside to encounter their candlelight vigil for those killed in the Gaza war and their calls for an immediate cease-fire. Inside the building were scores of Democrat candidates and members of Congress, including House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.). They were directed to shelter in the basement while the Capitol Police physically removed the protesters who refused to leave. “When the group moved dumpsters in front of the exits, pepper sprayed our officers and attempted to pick up the bike rack, our teams quickly introduced consequences–pulling people off the building, pushing them back, and clearing them from the area, so we could safely evacuate the Members and staff,” the Capitol Police said the day following the protest. During the chaos, 24-year-old Ruben Arthur Camacho of Woodridge, New York, was arrested after allegedly slamming a female officer into a garage door and then punching her in the face. It is clear that there cannot be two different standards of the law…one for those who appear peaceful and one for those “Special Interest Groups” (including religions, sexuality groups etc) for which law enforcement is “afraid” to “piss them off”! If you can’t hold a Canadian flag, and only the flag of another country, then we should ship you back to that country from where you brought your hate against Canadian values. Thirdly, if there are people breaking these rules, they can be arrested and we will see if they are professional protesters, see what their social media is like and see if they are sucking off the government for free money while not working (employment insurance, welfare or social assistance etc.) We will find out “who they are” and deal with them accordingly. As well, any protesters who are here from another country will be jailed. We will not support professional protesters and agitators from abroad. At one entrance, demonstrators secured themselves to cement columns with chains while another individual discharged a fire extinguisher, possibly over an unsettling paint splatter on the ground. Pro-Palestinian demonstrators, estimated to be between 50 and 100 in number at California State University, Los Angeles, barricaded entrances and exits of the student services building, leaving several university employees trapped on Wednesday night. University spokesperson Erik Frost Hollins expressed disappointment to The Los Angeles Times, emphasizing that the situation took an alarming turn. “Unfortunately, this action went in a different way today,” the university stated, as law enforcement presence from the Los Angeles Police Department and campus police showed up by 10 p.m.
