MPs Vote to Launch Full Probe of Security Breach at Winnipeg Lab (Epoch Times, 3/26/2024) MPs have voted to conduct a full study of the Winnipeg laboratory documents, which show multiple previous security breaches at the top biosafety facility, after opposition parties pushed back on attempts by Liberals to water down the committee probe. Conservative MP Michael Chong presented a motion to launch a probe of the documents during a special meeting of the House of Commons Canada-China relations committee on March 26. He called the issue a “grave and serious matter,” saying that a government scientist collaborated and was paid “clandestinely” by the Chinese regime and its military. Mr. Chong said that MPs waited for three years to see the documents shedding light on the affair and they now have to study the matter appropriately. Liberal MPs on the committee pushed back on aspects of Mr. Chong’s motion, seeking to reduce the scope of the proposed study. MP Yasir Naqvi tabled multiple amendments, saying the study “cannot be turned into a political show.” “This is about foreign interference. This is about national security. And all of us have an important and a serious obligation to treat all these these matters very seriously,” he said. What are they hiding? 3 in 4 Canadians Support Disclosing Names of MPs, Senators Accused of Foreign Collusion: Survey (Epoch Times, 7/2/2024) Three-quarters of Canadians believe that MPs and senators accused of colluding with foreign entities to interfere in elections should have their names publicly disclosed, a recent survey shows. A June survey on Canadian politics conducted by Leger for Postmedia found that Conservative voters are slightly more likely to agree with public disclosure of names (84 percent) compared to Liberal supporters (78 percent). The allegations against the parliamentarians were detailed in a June 3 report from the National Security and Intelligence Committee of Parliamentarians (NSICOP). The report cited intelligence indicating that some parliamentarians have been “semi-witting or witting” participants in the efforts of foreign states to interfere in Canadian politics. These activities include receiving funds or benefits from foreign missions, engaging with missions that “quietly mobilize” community groups or businesses in favour of a candidate, and providing privileged information to foreign missions about their colleagues’ work. The Conservatives have urged the Liberal government to publicly disclose the names of parliamentarians allegedly involved in foreign collusion. However, Public Safety Minister Dominic LeBlanc, who reviewed the names, pointed to laws protecting classified information as preventing him from doing so. Hold CCP Accountable for Trillions in Pandemic Losses: Report (Epoch Times, 7/11/2024) The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) should be held accountable for its “systematic cover-up” of the COVID-19 pandemic that has caused trillions of dollars of economic losses in the United States, a new report finds. “It’s critical the United States take the leadership role in holding the Chinese Communist Party accountable for one of the most catastrophic cover-ups in human history,” Derrick Morgan, executive vice president of The Heritage Foundation, said at a July 8 event in Washington while presenting the 64-page paper. The report concludes that as of December 2023, the estimated cost of the pandemic in the United States had skyrocketed to over $18 trillion, amounting to about 13 percent of the country’s net wealth for that year. This figure, according to the report, is “a stark reminder of the profound impact this global health crisis has had on the nation.” The same can be said for Canada which doubled it’s national debt under Trudeau during the period of the pandemic.
