Canada’s Carbon Emissions Up Despite Federal Climate Programs (Epoch Times, 5/3/2024) Canada’s carbon emissions are on the rise, according to a new government report, despite the number of emissions reduction policies by the government, which is blaming the rise on increased economic activities following the COVID-19 lockdowns. Only Alberta and Saskatchewan, which both oppose the carbon tax, reported lower emissions on an annual basis, said the National Inventory Report published by the Department of Environment. Greenhouse gas emissions have risen steadily since the end of the pandemic, coming in at 708 million tonnes in 2022, the last year data was available, as first reported by Blacklocks Reporter. It was a 9.3 million tonne increase since 2021, according to the report. Despite the rise in emissions, Environment Minister Steven Guilbeault said Canada is “making steady progress.” The government and Guilbeaut are clearly delusional. Florida Becomes First State to Ban ‘Fake Meat’ (Epoch Times, 5/5/2024) Florida’s governor has signed a first-of-its-kind bill into law to officially ban lab-grown meat, in a bid to protect the Sunshine State’s cattle industry and its residents. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed the legislation, SB1084, into law at a ceremony in Wauchula on May 1. The sweeping 81-page agricultural package officially bans “the manufacture for sale, sale, holding or offering for sale, or distribution of cultivated meat” in the Sunshine State. The bill includes 22 additional measures, ranging from the preemption of federal regulations for electric vehicle stations in the state to a redefinition of the term. “hemp extract.” The ban does not include Impossible meat, which is a plant-based meat alternative. Gov. DeSantis’ office said in a statement that Florida is “taking action to stop the World Economic Forum’s goal of forcing the world to eat lab-grown meat and insects.” The World Economic Forum (WEF) describes insects as “an overlooked source of protein.” Gov. DeSantis described the legislation as the state’s effort to push back against the plan by global elites to force the world to consume “meat grown in a petri dish or bugs to achieve their authoritarian goals.” Florida Commissioner of Agriculture Wilton Simpson described Florida’s leadership in banning lab-grown meat“ as a ”step in the right direction.” “We must protect our incredible farmers and the integrity of American agriculture,” he said. “Lab-grown meat is a disgraceful attempt to undermine our proud traditions and prosperity and is in direct opposition to authentic agriculture. Lab grown meat is created in a laboratory by taking stem cells from an animal and placing them in tanks called bioreactors full of a culture medium that enables them to multiply. The American Cancer Society has admitted that bioengineered foods can trigger reactions in people with allergies. Dr. Sayed Haider told The Epoch Times in an October 2023 interview that bioengineered food itself could be “toxic,” saying evidence already suggests that it promotes antibiotic resistance, triggers immunosuppression, and even causes cancer. On June 21, 2023, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) granted its first-ever approval to produce cell-cultured meat to two companies in the United States, Good Meat and Upside Food. Rep. Alvarez noted that this same federal government approved the COVID-19 vaccines and said smoking, saccharin, and Vioxx were safe. That was the Globalist Biden administration that approved that. Former Federal Green Fund Director Who Gave Money to Own Companies Resigns From Infrastructure Bank (Epoch Times, 5/21/2024) A government-appointed director at the Canada Infrastructure Bank has resigned after being under fire for approving federal green fund money to companies she was invested in while serving as a fund director. The April 16 resignation of renewable energy venture capitalist Andrée-Lise Méthot was not publicly announced until Housing and Infrastructure Minister Sean Fraser was asked about Ms. Méthot on May 21. Mr. Fraser was testifying before the House of Commons transport and infrastructure committee. Conservative Party MP Michael Barrett queried Mr. Fraser on whether he endorses Ms. Méthot serving on the Canada Infrastructure Bank (CIB). “I actually understand that person has resigned, so there there is no such service to endorse,” said Mr. Fraser, who oversees the Crown corporation as part of his portfolio duties. Mr. Barrett asked the minister if the resignation was related to the announcement of an investigation. “No, I’ve made no such announcement,” said Mr. Fraser. Ms. Méthot served on the board of the federal green fund Sustainable Development Technology Canada (SDTC) from 2016 to 2021, during which time the arms-length green fund provided millions of dollars to companies she’s invested in. Other SDTC directors did the same and are being investigated by the ethics commissioner.
