Ontario Trustee Quits Amid Investigations for Posts Critical of Gender Ideology in Schools(Epoch Times, 3/30/2024)An Ontario trustee has resigned amid several investigations of her social media posts over alleged code of conduct violations. The Durham District School Board (DDSB) said it accepted the resignation of Linda Stone on March 27.“To be the only DDSB trustee fighting for the safety of children against gender ideology, drugs, irreversible damage and then to be silenced by the other DDSB trustees would be laughable if it weren’t so bloody terrible,” Ms. Stone posted to her X account on March 11. “Can’t understand why they don’t care about these children.”A complaint noted that she attended the March for Children, “where she marched against the Board that she worked for. This march spread lies and hate against the LBGTQTS2+ communities,” according to one of the investigation reports. The March, held in Sept. 20, 2023, asked for upholding parental rights.One of the social media posts that was alleged to have violated the code was a link to a speech made at the Million Person March for Children on Sept. 20, 2023. Ms. Stone wrote, “Excellent speech” by parental rights activist Shannon Boschy in Ottawa.The speech called for advocates to eliminate “woke” school boards, according to the integrity commissioner.Ms. Stone told the commissioner that she was “exercising freedom of expression,” according to the report.“She articulates the view that people should not be prevented from expressing opinions that may differ from the opinions of others,” the commissioner wrote. However, the commissioner added, as a trustee, that freedom is not unlimited.“Her belief is that students are being harmed by ‘gender ideology’ in the school system,” the report noted, adding that “she believes her actions are repairing a ‘lack of confidence in the board by thousands of parents,’ who do not feel heard.”The investigation concluded that, despite Ms. Stone’s beliefs, the speech violated the code as she did not “inspire public confidence in the abilities and integrity of the Board” or behave “in a constructive and respectful manner.”At that time, a 55-page document laid out the complaints against Ms. Stone, including social media posts and comments she made at meetings.DDSB said at the time that it did not monitor the social media account.Wow… that’s a lot to process from this article. In her book, Dr. Grossman explains in detail how the “science” behind those treatments has been debunked. She recommends parents learn about these procedures’ risks and share them with their children.Dr. Grossman dedicates a whole section of her book to explaining how critical puberty is for the development of the body and how the brain doesn’t reach full development until well into the third decade of life.Puberty is something that we want kids to go through, Dr. Grossman said. “It’s the most important developmental process that kids need to go through, outside of the development that they went through before they were born. Puberty affects every system in the body. The exposure of the brain to the hormones of puberty causes the brain over the years to mature.“When we give puberty blockers to kids ... we delay their natural puberty, that natural stage of development. We have no idea what the long-term effects will be.” Puberty is a complex process of change. Anyone who has gone through puberty and adolescence knows how confusing and frustrating these changes are. “It’s a very awkward, uncomfortable experience,” said Ms. Littlejohn, who is also a licensed mental health counselor. “But instead of being told, ‘This is normal, you’re gonna get through it. It’s going to be OK, we all felt the same,’ a lot of these kids are being told and conditioned to believe, ‘If you feel discomfort, it’s because you’re probably trans.’”The brain matures during puberty, allowing for a fully grown prefrontal cortex to rationally weigh actions and their consequences. The amygdala also develops, bringing emotional balance to the mix. It’s not surprising, then, that many kids grow out of their gender confusion after going through puberty.“Between 60 and 90 percent of these kids, if they go through puberty and into young adulthood, will outgrow their gender dysphoria,” Dr. Grossman said. Talk to them about the realities of biology—that there are only two sexes and whoever says otherwise is lying to them or deeply confused. You should also warn them about other people telling them to keep secrets from their parents so that they will instead immediately let you know about it. And similar to when you explain to them that nobody should touch their private parts, you can let them know that no adult should ask them their pronouns or talk about gender and sex with them. It has since morphed to focus primarily on a company’s carbon dioxide emissions, irrespective of their actual effect on climate change. “Social” used to denote a company’s relationships with people but has now come to represent the company’s stance on issues, often determined by far-left activists. “Governance” originally described a company’s internal management practices; it now emphasizes the racial and gender diversity of the company’s board of directors.In other words, ESG originated from the concept of corporate social responsibility and has evolved into “stakeholder capitalism,” a framework where businesses shift their focus from profitability and shareholder value to politically divisive and ambiguous criteria.Despite increasing resistance, indications show that ESG investing is not going away.ESG investing is increasingly popular among larger Canadian companies. In March 2023, the Business Development Bank of Canada surveyed 121 large companies and public-sector buyers, finding that 82 percent require their suppliers to disclose some ESG information. Critics contend that the ESG scoring system lacks consistency and is subjective. They also point out that focusing on social and environmental factors may cause investors to neglect essential financial metrics, negatively impacting overall performance.While indigenous groups and communities have become increasingly engaged in ESG investing, particularly drawn by the potential profits from renewable energy projects, a significant issue has emerged. Indigenous organizations that have thoroughly examined ESG investing have discovered that most ESG metrics and assessments have significant flaws in their implementation.A fundamental flaw is that the environmental component of ESG often conflicts directly with the economic self-determination of indigenous energy-producing communities.The primary rationale behind ESG investing and energy divestment campaigns is that fossil fuels are the primary enemy. To these climate change alarmists, First Nations are seen as “fair-weather friends.” When indigenous communities choose to pursue energy projects that promise economic prosperity, the non-indigenous activists who champion ESG and energy divestment often withdraw their support.A notable example involved a campaign against investing in the Royal Bank of Canada because it funded the Coastal GasLink pipeline project. Divestment activists overlooked the fact that 16 of the 20 First Nations along the pipeline route held a 10 percent equity ownership stake in the project upon completion. Also, activists did not consider that all of these communities had voted in favour of the project and the associated benefit agreements.The activists’ campaign to demonize and divest from the energy sector frequently overlooks the interests of indigenous communities. To these activists, it is irrelevant that the oil and gas industry provides some of the highest-paying private sector jobs available to these communities.Just ask Crystal Smith, the elected chief councillor of the Haisla Nation in British Columbia, who has experienced significant opposition from activists during the establishment of the Cedar LNG project in her community. She has labelled these activists “eco-colonialists,” accusing them of trying to control indigenous communities in ways similar to historical colonialism by the Crown. Smith once said: “If left to climate activists, indigenous people would be the last to benefit, the last to participate, and the last to be connected to new infrastructure.”Or ask Jessica Shadian, the president of Arctic360, a group that works with indigenous development corporations, Northern governments, and the private sector to bring development to the Far North. She has observed that ESG activists have convinced investment firms to shun funding capital investments for ventures in the Arctic. According to Shadian, ESG principles have deterred critically needed infrastructure and economic development. She points out that ESG activists do not reside in the Far North, which may explain their lack of concern for the local impacts of their advocacy.ESG investing and divestment are not merely symbolic gestures like an empty land acknowledgement; they actively harm indigenous communities by depriving them of crucial opportunities.Private companies and indigenous communities need to abandon ESG altogether as it warehouses First Nations into perpetual poverty. Ontario Teacher Silenced for Questioning Age-Appropriateness of School Books Looks to Civil Suit After Being Denied Appeal (Epoch Times, 5/10/2024)The Ontario Court of Appeal has denied an appeal for a judicial review in the case of an elementary school teacher whose presentation about age-appropriate books was cut short by the school board over concerns her presentation violated gender expression rights under provincial law.Carolyn Burjoski’s presentation to the Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB) was shut down in January 2022 when she questioned the sexual content in some books available in elementary schools.Ms. Burjoski discussed books during her presentation that she felt made it “seem simple or even cool to take puberty blockers and opposite sex hormones,” according to court documents.Board chair Scott Piatkowski previously said he stopped Ms. Burjoski’s presentation because he believed it was in violation of the Ontario Human Rights Code.Ms. Burjoski asked the courts for a judicial review of the board’s decision, saying it violated her Charter rights, including her right to free expression. Her case was denied in November 2023 and she appealed.In the November decision, the three-judge panel said that it was reasonable for Mr. Piatkowksi to stop the presentation to keep order, as defined in the school board’s bylaws. The Board of Trustees has unanimously decided to transfer $2.3 million from diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs to bolster public safety and enhance the capabilities of campus police. This decision follows recent anti-Israel demonstrations at the university, highlighting a broader shift toward prioritizing campus security over DEI initiatives.This move comes amidst a backdrop of nationwide debates over the funding and impact of DEI programs in higher education. Similar decisions are being observed at other institutions, reflecting a trend where university budgets are being scrutinized and shifted in response to immediate campus needs and political pressures.HOW THE FREEDOM PARTY OF CANADA WILL ELIMINATE WOKEISM: 1)The Canadian National Anthem will reinstitute the words “In all thy son’s command” and eliminate the words “In all of us command”(which isn’t even proper grammar… think Trudeau’s “peoplekind”). We will create a law whereby the national anthem in the future may only be amended by a referendum of the Canadian people and whereby in that referendum there must be a 100% majority voting for the new changes. Anyone applying for this change must first send the government a $1 million dollar non refundable fee to apply to change the national anthem.2)We will create a law that says that personal legal names cannot be changed in any institution unless officially legally changed within the law. So called personal pronouns will not be relevant and will not be required to anyone to use. 3)There will be a Freedom of Speech Law created which will not only guarantee you the right to say anything you want, no matter how hateful anyone thinks it is (hate is in the eye of the beholder… no one can define hate). All hate laws will be banned and will undertake the same requirements as the national anthem… a referendum requiring 100% of the Canadian people to ratify and a $1 million dollar fee. 4)There will be new vandalism laws put in place whereby if you are involved in vandalism of any kind (including being a member of a crowd who vandalizes even if you don’t vandalize - guilty by association), you will be subject to 10 years in prison or must join the Canadian Armed Forces for 10 years. 5)We will require all Canadians under the age of 40 to serve at least 1 year in the Canadian Armed Forces. A military of 80,000 people to serve the 2nd largest country in the world is a joke perpetrated by previous incompetent federal governments. Our military will be equipped with the latest equipment (tanks, ships, planes etc.) and not 30 to 40 year old outdated equipment that would put all our forces in peril. Any Canadian who has graduated high school and has not within 3 months enrolled in college or university will serve 2 years service with the military. And college or university graduate will upon graduation serve 1 year in the military. All who serve will have the opportunity to make the military a career. Those who drop out of high school will be after the age of 16 enrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces and will have to go to school in the forces. All members of gangs will be split up and automatically enrolled for 10 years in the Canadian Armed Forces. 6)Any teacher found grooming children based upon gender identity (asking boys if they are girls or girls if they are boys or telling them they can be) will be stripped of their teaching licenses and enrolled for 10 years in the Canadian military. 7)No group will be able to have a celebratory period officially given to them in public or in any educational instutition exceeding more than 1 day. So based upon race, religion, sexual orientation, culture or any other metric, you or your group may not have more than one day out of the year for public celebrations. This means no “****** week”, no “****** month” etc. for whatever group you’re associated with. Some groups are trying to force their agendas upon the public with these celebratory periods. No more. 8)All roadways and sidewalks will be kept in the same colours year round and may not be altered at any time. Municipalities and provinces may use regular black asphalt or regular uncoloured concrete for roadways or sidewalks. They may not be painted or coloured in any way in any other colour or groups of colours. This also goes for any other roads including gravel roads. 9)No government buildings (municipal, provincial, federal) will fly any flag except the Canadian Flag, the Provincial Flag or an official Municipal Flag. 10)Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) will be eliminated entirely and replaced with Unity and Meritocracy. Trudeau’s divisive “diversity” campaigns are a failure. Equity is really used as a word for racial inequality as reverse racism is practiced to give equality of outcomes and not choosing the best people for the jobs. Inclusion is really a very racist, exclusionary policy that focuses on excluding white males. These policies will become a thing of the past! No longer will we promote mediocrity but we will promote excellence and raise our national standards in all areas!11)ESG policies will be outlawed in Canada.
