And this is why the Freedom Party of Canada will be making sure Judges are elected every2 2 years….because we have Judges with no Judgement following Woke Ideology! 11-year-old denied permission to start interfaith prayer club at Washington state school (PM, April 12, 2024) An 11-year-old girl in Washington State was prohibited from forming an interfaith prayer group at her elementary school one week after the same administrators permitted other students to start an LGBTQ “Pride Club.” Laura, a 5th grader at Creekside Elementary in Sammamish, Washington, and a friend wanted to start a prayer group to “bring students together to serve their community” from different faith backgrounds. Laura and her mother met with Creekside Principal Amy Allison in February about the club but were told that funding for clubs was allocated in October. Yet the pride club was started and promoted by teachers a week before the school met with Laura and her mother. A nonprofit Christian legal organization, First Liberty Institute (FLI), took on the case for Laura, her friend, and their parents, and wrote a letter to the Issaquah School District regarding the incident. FLI alleged in the letter that the school’s actions were unlawful and violated both the Free Exercise Clause and the Free Speech Clause of the First Amendment. According to FLI, "Principal Allison's suggestion that L.A.W. [Laura] could apply and pay to use the school's facilities as if she were an outside organization is an unlawful sidestep of the law's requirements. As the Supreme Court has repeatedly held, religious clubs must be afforded the same recognition, access, and rights as other non-curricular clubs." The district and the school were given a deadline of April 22 to approve the prayer club or the group will take legal action. NB Premier Higgs ‘Didn’t Imagine’ School Pronoun Policy Would Be Followed by Other Provinces (Epoch Times, 4/11/2024) OTTAWA—New Brunswick Premier Blaine Higgs says he didn’t expect his government’s changes to sections of its school gender identity policy concerning pronouns would result in other premiers following suit. He said his intention was to “do what’s right” for families. Back in mid-2023, Mr. Higgs’s government became the first in Canada to implement a policy change that required teachers to obtain parental consent before using the preferred first name and pronoun of a transgender or non-binary student who is under 16. Later in August 2023, Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe also announced a policy requiring schools to get parents’ permission for students under 16 expressing a desire to change their pronouns. Six months later, in February 2024, Alberta Premier Danielle Smith introduced similar legislation, which also banned gender-altering surgery for those under 18 and puberty blockers for those under 16. Mr. Higgs told the conference that after closely examining his province’s school policy and reading the paragraph that says teachers are not to inform parents about their children’s desire to change pronouns, he was alarmed. “This isn’t right. This isn’t the foundation of families that we’re built on,” he said. Mr. Higgs also remarked that it was “amazing” his government has been labelled far-right for “having parents involved with their kids.” He said the solution his government has put forward “just seems to be really right,” rather than far-right. Northern Ontario Town Rejects Flying Pride Flag (Epoch Times, 4/11/2024) Three motions to fly a pride flag on municipal property have been defeated three times in as many weeks by a northern Ontario town. East Ferris Deputy Mayor Lauren Rooyakkers first brought forward a motion March 19 requesting the pride flag be raised for the whole month of June. Council voted against the motion 3-2 on March 26, but Ms. Rooyakkers requested a reconsideration immediately after the vote. During the March 26 discussion, Councillor Terry Kelly said he had contacted Statistics Canada to find out how many people identify as LGBT. “It’s basically three percent of the population over the age of 15,” he said. “I’m just wondering where it would stop. This is a splinter group.” He said people could fly any flags on poles on their own property “but when we put a flag on municipal property and it’s only three percent of the population of Canada—that’s a splinter group.” “I don’t see any reason for that flag flying,” Mr. Kelly added. “There are a lot of groups that represent more than three percent of the population and they are happy with a Canadian flag or a provincial flag.” He noted that in comparison to the proposed month to raise the pride flag, there was just “one day” marked for official observance of Remembrance Day. Mr. Kelly said he believed that they lived in an inclusive community, but said that 97 percent of the population was not represented in the pride flag. A small community in Alberta was divided over the same issue earlier this year and held a plebiscite about flying pride flags and painting crosswalks in rainbow colours. The town of Westlock’s Feb. 23 plebiscite saw the motion for a neutrality bylaw pass with 663 votes in favour and 639 against it. As a result of the vote, the town passed a bylaw that prohibits non-governmental flags from being flown on municipal flagpoles. It also limits the painting of town crosswalks in any other way than a traditional white-striped pattern. A group of Westlock residents brought the issue to council with a petition that had 700 signatures on it. The community has 7,186 residents, according to the 2021 census data. Captain Beatrice Gale, was celebrated by the Department of National Defence (DND) in a video released in 2023 that discusses the chaplain’s gender transition. “A painful journey and transition from man to woman, Padre (Capt.) Beatrice Gale from the @RMCCanadaCMR in Kingston shares her personal story,” a March 17, 2023 post on the Canadian Armed Forces social media account said, as first reported by True North News. DND has confirmed in an email to The Epoch Times that Capt. Gale was “found to have committed a service infraction” on April 3 and has since been suspended from the role of chaplain. “When the Chaplain General was initially informed of the allegations, the mandate for Capt. Gale to serve as a military chaplain was immediately suspended,” the email said. “Greater diversity and inclusivity enrich the workplace and enable us to leverage the range of perspectives and expertise needed to address today’s complex challenges,” DND wrote. In line with its diversity, equity, and inclusion focus, the federal government has been making broader changes in the military, including the chaplaincy. Its author, retired pediatrician Dr. Hilary Cass, is polite and professional, but she pulls no punches in exposing the false foundation upon which the entire edifice of “gender- affirming care” is built. Drawing extensively on a series of systematic literature reviews and in-depth interviews with doctors, parents, and patients, she writes: “The reality is that we have no good evidence on the long-term outcomes of interventions to manage gender-related distress… for the majority of young people, a medical pathway may not be the best way to achieve this.” Even social transitioning alone, she concludes, risks grave psychological harm for children. And social transitioning is often a prelude to puberty blockers. Dr. Cass skewers the oft- cited narrative that blockers are harmless and reversible, pointing to evidence of permanent negative effects on bone density and neuropsychiatric functioning. The report advises a U-turn from the “gender-affirming” construct of drugs and surgery toward a model of careful psychological counselling. Critically, this is the very “watchful waiting” approach that got Canadian psychologist Dr. Kenneth Zucker fired more than eight years ago as head of Toronto’s Centre for Addiction and Mental Health. “Gender transition has gotten out of hand. When medical professionals start saying they have one answer that applies everywhere, or that they have a cure for all life’s pains, that should be a warning to all of us that something has gone very wrong.” Puberty Blocker Use in Boys May Cause Permanent Testicular Atrophy, Irreversible Damage to Fertility: Study (Epoch Times, 4/16/2024) A new study suggests puberty blockers may cause permanent damage to boys’ reproductive organs and irreversibly impair their fertility, undercutting the claim that their use is a harmless way to “explore gender identity.” The Mayo Clinic study, published at the end of March and not yet peer reviewed, analyzed the largest clinically annotated pediatric testicular biorepository from teenage boys who suffered from gender dysphoria and were put on chronic puberty blockers. The researchers concluded from a combination of gland atrophy and microscopic cell-level abnormalities that the use of puberty blockers risks permanent damage to reproductive fitness. “At the tissue level, we report mild-to-severe sex gland atrophy in PB treated children,” the authors wrote. While some advocates of “gender affirming” therapies and surgeries claim that they can help people suffering from gender dysphoria, the evidence for this is scant. Trans student charged for planning MD school shootings had been previously released from psych facility, wrote 129-page manifesto (PM, April 19, 2024) An 18-year-old trans female who was arrested on Wednesday and taken into custody on charges of planning a school shooting had been previously released from a psychiatric facility. In fact, Andree Ye, who goes by Alex, was reported to authorities by a person she met in that facility. The investigation by police only began, WDSU reports, after a person contacted police saying that he met Ye at a psychiatric facility. He said that authorities should take a look at Ye's writings. Ye was discovered to have a detailed manifesto that discussed organizing a school shooting at her high school and perhaps also at a primary school. "I want to shoot up my school. I've been preparing for it for the past few months. As I sit in front of my dad's gun case and stare at the sleek, black gun inside, all I can think about is my finger on the trigger, taking aim, and killing people. Trans Teen Arrested For Mass Shooting Plot Of Two Schools In Maryland (Red Voice Media, April 21, 2024) 18-year-old Alex Ye, who is biologically female but identifies as male and formerly known as Andrea, has been arrested in Rockville, Maryland, for allegedly planning a mass shooting at Wootton High School and Lakewood Elementary School. The arrest came after authorities discovered a 129-page document, dubbed a “memoir,” authored by Ye, detailing plans for carrying out mass shootings at the schools. “I want to shoot up a school. I’ve been preparing for months. The gun is an AR-15. This gun is going to change lives tomorrow … As I walk through the hallways, I cherry pick the classrooms that are the easiest targets. I need to figure out how to sneak the gun in. I have contemplated making bombs. The instructions to make them are surprisingly available online. I have also considered shooting up my former elementary school because little kids make easier targets. High school’s the best target; I’m the most familiar with the layout. I pace around my room like an evil mastermind. I’ve put so much effort into this. My ultimate goal would be to set the world record for the most amount of kills in a shooting. Ontario Resident Wins Public Funding of Gender Transition Surgery Deemed ‘Experimental’ (Epoch Times, 4/15/2024) An Ontario resident has been granted public funding for specialized gender-transition surgery outside of Canada, despite the provincial health insurer’s stance against funding procedures abroad and concerns about the surgery’s “experimental” nature. The individual, referred to as “K.S.” in a court document, sought coverage under the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) for a penile-preserving vaginoplasty in Texas. The procedure, also referred to as vaginoplasty without a penectomy, entails creating a vaginal cavity while retaining the penis. K.S. has pursued multiple appeals to the provincial Health Services Appeal and Review Board (HSARB), an independent quasi-judicial tribunal, following OHIP’s denial of funding. HSARB granted K.S.’s appeal, deeming the surgery eligible for funding, which led OHIP to appeal the decision to the Divisional Court of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice. On April 10, the Divisional Court dismissed OHIP’s appeal. Another argument OHIP raised in denying coverage for K.S.’s surgery was that the requested procedure is considered “experimental,” thus rendering it ineligible for public funding. The Freedom Party of Canada will not support gender transition surgery or any costs involved with it. It is our feeling that many of these individuals are mentally ill and need some sort of counselling and/or other treatment. Parents Concerned Over Ontario School Board’s ‘Intrusive’ Survey on Students’ Sexual Orientation and Gender (Epoch Times, 4/10/2024) Parents in the Thames Valley District in Ontario are raising questions about a student survey they say is “intrusive” and lacks transparency. The Concerned Parents Association of London and Area (CPAL) says it’s concerned over the “Everyone Belongs Student Survey,” which asks questions about students’ sexual orientation and gender identity. The survey is designed for students in Grades 7 to 12, CPAL said. “The survey includes questions about personal identities, such as sexual orientation and gender identity, which many feel are inappropriate for educational institutions to ask students,” CPAL said in an April 5 Substack post. Questions on a copy of the survey made public by the Thames Valley District School Board (TVDSB), which serves London and other nearby cities, touch on issues from racism and religion to gender and sexuality. There is also a link to an Ontario government website that defines various gender identities. CPAL says it is concerned that schools are concentrating on ideology over academics. “As parents, we believe that schools should focus primarily on academic achievement,” the group said on Substack. “The inclusion of such sensitive inquiries not only oversteps boundaries but also risks prioritizing divisive ideologies over the educational needs of our children.” The Epoch Times reported previously that the school board has continued to allow teachers to hide students’ gender transitions from parents, contrary to the education minister’s direction that parents must be involved. “Parents must be fully involved and fully aware of what’s happening in the life of their children. I mean, often there are health implications,” Mr. Lecce said at an Aug. 28, 2023, press conference. He was answering a question about whether Ontario would consider legislation similar to Saskatchewan and New Brunswick, which introduced policies that require parents to be informed if their children want to change their gender pronouns at school. Premier Doug Ford has echoed Mr. Lecee’s position. “Most important is the parents’ rights—the parents’ rights to listen and make sure they are informed when their children make a decision,” Mr. Ford said on Sept. 8, 2023. “It’s not up to the teachers, it’s not up to the school board, to indoctrinate our kids.” The Freedom Party of Canada couldn’t agree more. The plan involves establishing new “partnerships” and “linkages” between Green Gables and “new communities.” The Epoch Times report quoted a message from Parks Canada President Ron Hallman who said the agency is committed to “equity, diversity, inclusion and reconciliation” in all that it does. Parks Canada says it will focus on “providing fair and equitable access to opportunities for under-represented people including: Black, Indigenous, people of colour, the Two Spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer+ (2SLGBTQ+) community, and people living with disabilities.” When the January announcement led to speculation about the creation of a “woke Anne” the parks agency claimed it would not be “editing or retelling any of L.M. "These girls have done nothing to lead anyone to believe that they would represent their school in an inappropriate manner," Morrisey wrote in the brief, submitted April 26. "Quite to the contrary: they have, in truth, represented their school exceptionally well by demonstrating their personal objections in a clear but nondisruptive protest action and then providing a clear, concise explanation for that protest at a public press conference." "Rather than being punished for their conduct or being sidelined in an effort to score points," he added, "all should commend these young athletes for putting their personal performances aside to demonstrate their discontent with an unjust result that affects them personally and within that event. There can be no more direct and connected protest within the sports context. And that expression, along with their attendance at a press conference with political figures addressing their protests, are protected activities." These girls should not have been banned. They stood up for what is right. Biological males should not be competing with biological females in sports. This is why there are men’s and women’s divisions. The Freedom Party of Canada will create legislation outlawing biological males of the age of 13 and older competing against biological females unless for “fun purposes” like an exhibition. Imagine that! 214 Studies, 21 Guidelines: Largest Review on Transgender-Youth Medicine Finds Insufficient Evidence for Medicalization (Epoch Times, May 2, 2024) The Cass Review is based on the work of 237 papers, including 214 studies, 21 guidelines, and two position statements, which covered data of over 113,000 children and young people. The authors also analyzed anonymized data from over 3,700 children diagnosed with gender dysphoria, survey responses from professionals, and numerous interviews and testimonies from stakeholders of the issue. The review team commissioned researchers at the University of York to conduct systematic reviews of these papers and get feedback by interviewing young gender- incongruent children, their parents, and clinicians. The University of York disclosed that it interviewed 12 young people who were part of voluntary organizations or the UK’s Gender Identity Development Service (GIDS), along with 12 parents. The university researchers also interviewed clinicians at the UK’s gender identity clinics. Additionally, Dr. Cass also interviewed numerous transgender youths, adults, parents of these children, advocacy groups, psychologists, pediatricians, and related clinicians, both British and international, though the number of interviewees was undisclosed. She also wanted to do a follow-up with 9,000 patients referred to England’s Tavistock Centre, but that could not be done due to the lack of cooperation from all but one adult clinic. The review stated that there is insufficient evidence to demonstrate the long-term benefits of medicalizing children who want to identify as a different gender. England may be the third country to withdraw from a “gender-affirming” treatment pathway due to recommendations from a long-awaited report. In April, the country published the Cass Review, “most comprehensive summary on transgender-youth medicine,” psychologist Erica Anderson, who identifies as transgender and has a doctorate in clinical psychology, told The Epoch Times. The review, chaired by Dr. Hilary Cass, British honorary physician, consultant in pediatric disability, and former president of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, stated that there is insufficient evidence to demonstrate the long-term benefits of medicalizing children who want to identify as a different gender. Instead, the review recommends focusing on psychotherapy. “[The Cass Review] final report will not just shape the future of healthcare in this country for children and young people experiencing gender distress but will be of major international importance and significance,” the statement read. Eight days after the Cass Review’s release, Scotland’s health boards announced a pause on new prescriptions for puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones as they gather evidence to support the safety and clinical effectiveness of these medications. The Society for Evidence Based Gender Medicine (SEGM), a medical group that advocates for evidence-driven research on transgender care, stated that for England, the review marked “the end of the era of a highly medicalized approach to the treatment of young people with gender-related distress,” which has come to be known as “gender-affirming” care. The report also mentioned that while medicalization comprising puberty blockers, cross- sex hormones, and surgery, known as the “Dutch Protocol,” was invented in the Netherlands in the 1990s, the concept of “gender affirmation”—accepting children’s gender identity at face value—actually originated in the United States and then spread internationally. As a result of the review, children under 18 in England will not be treated using such protocol but with the same level of care as other youths with mental health struggles. Finland and Sweden made similar changes in 2023. The report found that, unexpectedly, most current influential guidelines have been determined based on board consensus instead of science. Most of the current guidelines were influenced by two American standards of care: the 2012 World Professional Association of Transgender Healthcare (WPATH) and the Endocrine Society 2009. Both relied on a consensus process among professionals to decide on the best treatment for gender dysphoria and were built upon one another. WPATH members were co-sponsors of the Endocrine Society guidelines. WPATH’s 2012 standards of care adopted the Endocrine Society’s consensus-based recommendations but did not refer to WPATH’s own systematic review data, which found inconclusive evidence of the benefits of hormone therapy. The review highlighted that psychotherapy is not the same as conversion therapy, as it is not about changing a child’s perception of who they are but exploring the cause of their concerns and experiences and helping alleviate distress. The review noted that many children grow out of gender dysphoria by adulthood but that those who socially transition often medically transition, meaning that they continue to have gender dysphoria. The review showed no significant improvements in gender dysphoria symptoms or body satisfaction from medicalization. Hormonal treatment, which refers to the use of puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones, is not recommended for minors due to the permanence of its effects. Evidence also did not support the claim that hormonal treatment reduced the risk of suicide. Medical associations that recommend medicalization have remained largely silent, with the most vocal dissidents being transgender advocates. A clinician with WPATH, who was one of the first to support youth with “gender-affirming” medical treatment in the United States, told The Epoch Times that she was sad and disappointed by WPATH’s response. (They couldn’t accept the research as valid) “I feel like they are stuck in the 2000s,” said the clinician, who requested not to be named. “They are still of the mindset that if someone experiences gender dysphoria, medical intervention should always be the first line of recommended treatment.” Owing to this, “People are having a knee-jerk reaction because if there’s anything that has even the smallest flavor of not being completely affirming of gender-questioning youth, it’s considered transphobic by some on one extreme,” the WPATH clinician added.
